About Me
I am a chemical engineering process co-op student, originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia! Over the past four years, I have been heavily involved with a number of different organizations on and off campus. I believe this involvement has granted the leadership experience, the perspective, and the personal connections to allow me to effectively act as your Applied Science Student Senator.

I have national perspective through attendance at conferences such as the National Engineering Summit, Canadian Federation of Engineering Students Congress 2009 and 2010, the Engineers Without Borders National Conference, and the Canadian Society of Chemical Engineering Conference. I have also proven capable of translating this experience into relevant action back at UBC.
On a lighter note, I am a Rubik's cuber, a sci-fi lover, secret bad-reality-television watcher, and a snack-that-smiles-back eater. I love Vancouver's mild weather (although I miss the snow like crazy!) and my passion is water: water assessment, treatment, management, or policy -- I don't know what I like best yet but it's all super interesting to me!
But more seriously and finally, I have build strong connections with faculty. Through my work as President and VP Academic this last year, I've developed effective working relationships with the Engineering Associate Deans and Dean's Office staff. I also know almost all the department heads, key faculty champions, UBC Executives, central Vice President Students' portfolio staff, etc.
Specifically, I've worked with the
- Associate Dean Academic Programs, Dr. Bruce Dunwoody
- to improve Engineering Student Services
- to gain academic concessions for individuals
- to lobby the RCMP to improve communication with students
- Associate Dean Students, Dr. Rob Hall
- to run Beef & Pizza forums gathering feedback on the UBC engineering experience
- to improve APSC 201 and 450 curriculum
- to secure first year engineering students dedicated study space (KAIS 1110 - now open!)
- to improve Engineering Co-op policies and procedures
- Student Development Officers, Erin Linde and Amy Vozel
- to redevelop, administer, and review the Professional Activities Fund
- to organize the 20th anniversary memorial service for the 14 women killed on December 6 at l'Ecole Polytechnique
- to co-advise E-team
- to develop professionally and as a student leader
I'm a super approachable person, so if you have any questions or want to give me feedback, please don't hesitate to email me!
