Who is eligible to vote?

Any current engineering undergraduate student at UBC Vancouver.

How/When do I vote?

Log on to your Student Service centre between March 15-19 and click on WebVote (under the Grades & Records menu). Then click Cast Vote! There will also be a physical ballot station set up in Kaiser atrium, time TBA.

How do I find out more information about all the candidates running in the election?

Visit the EUS website for candidate photos and statements, and come out to the all candidates forum on Thursday, March 11 from 3-5 pm in Kaiser 2020/2030!

What distinguishes you from the other candidates?

Experience and knowledge: through my past roles with the Engineering Undergraduate Society, the Alma Mater Society, Engineers Without Borders, etc. I have made strong connections and learned how to navigate the university structure to effectively advocate for students. I know the academic issues important to you, and I know how to get them listened to. But more than that I know how to reach out and engage with you to ensure I keep hearing your concerns and consulting with you on important decisions.

As an Alma Mater Society Councillor, I was elected to chair the Academic Quality Committee where I worked in tandem with Senators to tackle academic issues facing the entire campus, from teaching evaluations to credit caps. In my role as the first ever Vice-President Academic last year, I initiated and brought about the significant increase of academic services we see today, from individual advising to overall advocacy. I did the marketing and push for the successful and effective use of voice@ubcengineers.ca, and I have already built very strong and positive working relationships with faculty members and other student organizations.

But all that aside, being Senator is about more than just experience. Being Senator is about exercising your voice and good judgement in and outside of Senate to make sure the right decisions are being made, and I believe I am uniquely qualified to do just this.

What specific changes will you implement?

Change at a university is slow, but we have a climate of change within engineering at the moment and now is the time to elect somebody who is looped into all these changes and aware of the political environment each change fits within. Leaders are the catalysts for change, but the drive for change has to come from within. I would continue to actively solicit input from all portions of the student body to ask just that question of you: what changes do you want! Some areas I have personally targeted are described in my platform.

How do I know you will accomplish your agenda?

Look at my track record: ask those who have worked with me within EUS, EWB, and the faculty. Anybody who has known me for an extended period of time knows that I am a dedicated worker who has an almost compulsive need to follow through with projects! I will also commit to holding regular ‘office’ hours and attend all EUS Council meetings to keep myself accountable to you.

How can I find you on Facebook?

I don't have an account myself; I will be using this website and my email as the primary means of communication, but as I appreciate that others may be very keen on the Facebook thing, there will be a Facebook event/group created soon, so stay tuned! .
